[Day 5 - Late Morning] To The Future! (Vineland)

While the committee fumbled slightly on the sports venture, things looked rather promising when it came to Mayor Delgado's plans for the future. In thanks for their hard work in the last few days in making the New Angeles Expo one of the most talked-about conventions of the year, some expense was sparred on behalf of the mayor's office to host a gathering at Vineland. The establishment quickly sidelined their previous reservation to accommodate the gathering of city servants and corporate representatives. It was a casual affair enough affair that some corporate types even bothered to make an appearance in their schedule to chat with a few people before they would be ultimately continuing on with their busy day.
Elizabeth Mills was there to make an appearance as the guests were served a strawberry wine with a very rosy hue. There was a good share of attendants on staff, human ones, who were sure to offer plenty of hors d'oeuvre and other bites to compliment the wine.

Once again Ven had chosen to throw standardised fashion out the window and wore a knee length black dress with silver trim. It was paired with a dark wide brimmed hat (with cat ear holes) and his latest addition . . . the teacup tiger he'd created. Rawr, as he'd been named, was currently asleep in the chest harness Ven had gotten for him, little kitty snores causing Ven's ears to twitch occasionally.
Ven, however, was looking very suspiciously at his glass of strawberry wine.

The NAG model turned up at the gathering in a male formal suit, the New Angeles Government insignia clearly displayed in a bracelet and the suit itself. Although technically a committee member themselves, as bioroid in a wine tasting event, they felt (felt?) and behaved pretty much in accordance with their purpose according to factory specifications - supervision, surveillance and overseeing proceedings.
So while the organics around sampled the wine and bites offered, they kept to the sidelines, senses attuned to what was going on... and, well, available in case anyone was actually curious about a bioroid in the committee, and in a wine-tasting party at that.

Nadia would naturally be present, never too far from Elizabeth herself unless a task called for it. Arriving behind her as part of the entourage she claimed up her usual positioning for such affairs off to the side where few folk would have cause to notice. Sitting away from the main assortment of guests she ensured any offer to partake of the refreshments here was politely declined. In the time she had, her eyes would glow subtly as she traced across the net. Maintaining a semi-active surveillance on Elizabeth's PAD and home server by tapping in via her access, and the PAD resting comfortably underneath her suit sleeve.

If there was someone who was enjoying the perks of being part of the mayor's committee, it was Emilio. He was sure to help himself to some of the refreshments offered in the strawberry wine, which was sure to have a sweet and refreshing taste to it. There were also the servers who paraded with their trays of prepared crackers. They were small and trivial things that could easily add up without warning if anyone had too many of them. Good thing he skipped breakfast for just this occasion alone.

As the guests enjoyed offering the vineyard's specialties and unique creations, they could see several black hoppers flying from the mostly clear skies of La Costa and slowly descending down toward Vineland. It looked like a motorcade almost. They weren't scheduled to expect any further guests when almost everyone who bothered to RSVP was already present.

Di was there, wineglass in hand, and dressed in a stylish and perhaps too risque emerald dress.
She waved to Lina, before settling next to one of the more interesting parties at the party.

"Oh wow, you must tell me where you got that dress from. That looks amazing."

"Nya?"
Ven stopped staring suspiciously at his glass and only just remembered not to bounce as he turned and wake up Rawr.
"Oh Hi!! Oh this? I got this off the Net. I'm sure I have the link somewhere."

As the motorcade made its landing at the dirt driveway of the vineyard, ushering its fair of dust in its way. The doors would open up and there would be some members of Argus Security emerging from some of the van-sized hoppers, all dressed like they were ready for combat. There were easily some mutters and concerns that spread throughout the gathering as they didn't know what was happening around here, especially when it looked rather hostile from a megacorporation that was known full-well for its hostility. However, one of the armed security personnel seemed to take only an interest in the Weyland Consortium executives at the event, including Elizabeth Mills.
Chief Slee gave a cautious look around, seeing that there was almost no use of subtlety anymore but she supposed the executive would like to know why they were crashing the party at least. "Miss Mills, the Board sent us to extract you out of here. It's not looking good with the Crimson Dust situation, especially after what we found with the hacker."
As Elizabeth tried to make sense of what was happening, a few of the Weyland Consortium execs already made their quick leave and some of the vans departed in a quick manner, leaving the rest of the guests at Vineland to enjoy their strawberry wine...as well as scratch their head at what was transpiring.

Ven blinked and flicked both his ears and tail at the Argus guards tramping around like they owned the place.
"What's happening??"

Seeing the commotion behind the screen displayed in her vision Nadia's eyes settle to a more natural color and she looks around. Seeing Chief Slee approach Elizabeth, and Elizabeth looking as she did, Nadia made the decision now might be a good time to get nearer rather than further. Approaching off from their side she would join over by Elizabeth and the chief after some maneuvering through the crowd. Trying all the way to maintain an unobtrusive nature as she shifted between groupings of other guests.

The Angelina model acted as expected of a government supervisor (was that expected? Might be too direct and effective to be...). Ears and eyes were kept on the hoppers as they approached, but also scanned the surroundings now and then for any unexpected or suspicious movements among those present. When the hoppers landed, they walked as directly as possible towards them, and paid attention to what they were saying.
OOC:
Does #19 spot or hear anything suspicious?

"Oh? Please, send it over. IT's just gorgeous." She eyed him with a gleam in her eye. "How are you finding the party so far?"
She turned towards the incoming Argus group and....well
"That's not ominous at all. Nupe. Not at all."

Argus Security Guard
"Nothing much," the Argust guard would say before narrowing his eyes at the tail, perhaps momentarily distracting him from his answer. "It's nothing you need to worry about, just some Weyland Consortium business."

Lina doesn't seem to spot or hear anything suspicious. The Argus Security guards and soldiers seem to be prioritizing taking those few very important people from the Weyland Consortium and extracting them. From their general stances, it doesn't seem like they seem to be anticipating something happening,
right here. If they did, they might have had their many guns pointed in many places. However, it seemed they seem to believe that something will happen and they need to make their VIP a harder target.

Elizabeth looked about and her good mirth faded as she didn't appreciate the commotion in public.
Couldn't this have been an email somewhere? She thought to herself as she glanced at Nadia momentarily in annoyance. It wasn't her fault specifically and Elizabeth didn't disbelieve Debra, only wish she had more forewarning than have armed guards blunder into an event. Figuring that they would only leave if she did, she went along with it, putting the glass of wine aside. "Fine, let's get going. Surely, maybe some of these people would appreciate a lift as well. Capable people, perhaps?"
It seemed that Elizabeth had some consideration for her fellow committee members, although Nadia would likely know that she more appreciated getting more people in between her and potential danger.

Elizabeth and the Argus Security may linger a little but would ultimately make their departure
here a bit later. Those choosing to stay at Vineland would be treated to double the wine and hospitality after the Weyland Consortium had thinned out their numbers slightly.

"Should I place some calls Ms. Mills? Maybe Leo Knight is nearby?" she offers as a soft helpful suggestion. Nadia's list of people she knew was rather short but.. there was a chance that this suggestion might actually pan out.

Elizabeth gave a nod at the suggested familiar name. "If he's nearby, do so, Nadia."
