[Day 2 - Late Evening] Workplace Inspection (Elevate Solutions)

While the Weyland Consortium was rather large and its influence partially extended throughout the city, thanks to the foundations set by the construction of the Beanstalk, its presence was perhaps less obvious to the average New Angelino. Much of their existence is made up of a large collection of businesses under its massive umbrella, some were acquired through buyouts and others merely function as shell companies.

It is said that Richardo Perez worked out of 'Elevate Solutions', a company that specialized in providing network solutions to other businesses such as resource management, payroll, and project planning, just to name a few. Some of those businesses ended being bought out by the Consortium. Surely no coincidence there.

The company tower was an unimpressive one, much like a lot of the Esmeraldas, without even a company sign of note. It did see a good amount of traffic with hoppers flying into its mid-level parking like bees to a hive, even at this time of night.

Jane observes the building from a nearby alleyway, arms crossed. Seemed simple enough on the surface, but things really stayed that way with a megacorp.

First things first, locate Perez's office. Then select the approach. Social of physical.

As another hopper roared over head she rubbed her chin. Maybe she could catch a ride.

It seemed like it would be rather easy to catch a ride, there was a noticeable number of taxi cars that were travelling to the top of the building as the building saw a few visitors. Getting a taxi was easy, there were several apps for that on the Network and Jane would eventually get one with her own Tenma clone driver. It was likely something some tiers up to get some facade of prestige with even the Tenma dressed in a black suit, as there was a lack of yellow and black taxies among the traffic.

The above-ground parking was pretty standard as most buildings, complete with a drop-off area at the building's interior. Jane would get in easily to the lobby, which was perhaps impressively vast for a company of supposedly no importance. The late evening did make things quieter but nobody truly slept in New Angeles and there were a few people about, including a receptionist at the desk and some security lingering about. If people wanted to cause trouble, they typically didn't want to do so at high altitudes.

Jane does her best to blend in as just another overworked underappreciated corpo as she surreptitiously casts an eye across the space looking for any convenient marks.

While the relaxing activity of the night 'shift' did allow Jane to meander freely around the lobby, the fewer people here did work against her when it came to finding a particular mark for her intention.

It hurt a little under the bright lights, but Jane quickly spotted a likely target.

There was a young woman who strolled by, dressed casually in a pink outfit that looked a bit out of place. It was a bit difficult to tell what she was, admittedly. Maybe an intern who had been suckered into working here? Maybe part of the janitorial staff who was dressed casually after a shift? Or maybe the daughter of an executive, hoping to score some access to the cottage in La Costa for the weekend? There was obviously some youth and carelessness about her, not someone who had been ground by the corporate wheel much, yet.

Jane pulls out her commlink and gives every impression of getting yelled at on it as she 'accidentally' bumps into the young lady...although her attempt to actually grab the woman's pass is foiled by her safety lanyard (curses!). She might have to go to plan B.

"Hey! Watch it, pendejo!" The woman would snap at the woman who bumped into her, casting a momentary glare before she shrugged off the situation and continue her way toward the door, likely to be picked up or to get to her ride.

People around the lobby didn't really acknowledge the situation, either busy on their PAD, information on their smartspecs or cybereyes, or just chatting among each other. There was a front desk too.

Jane hurriedly apologises and scurries away. Vete a freír espárragos, looks like that one was well suited for corp life.

The would-be infiltrator now hurries over to the service desk, doing her best to give the impression of a massively overworked corp on the cusp of burnout.

"Hi guys. Um, I was wondering if you could do me a favour?"
She smiles hesitantly with a very woundable look
"My boss is riding my ass about the quarterly reports and he keeps threatening to fire me if they aren't done! But he's also told me the corp won't pay any overtime, so I can't swipe into the office tonight or that's one more thing he's gonna yell at me over in the morning."
She sniffles, as if only just maintaining control.

"I just...can you guys buzz me in? I really need to get this done, I really need this job. Timmy's starting preschool in a couple months and it's so expensive and I just don't know what else I'd do."

There was a man sitting at reception when Jane approached, potentially looking through some things 'work-related' before Jane approached and he quickly swiped down before sitting up straight to regard her. "...Hello. That's terrible..."

He narrowed his eyes on the woman. "Uhm, which floor do you work on? Somebody there couldn't just buzz you instead?"

"Uggh, I wish. Chad's on my floor and he gives me grief everytime I buzz. Just because his office is a few down from Mr Perez's he think he's hot stuff. I can see you're a much nicer guy."

"Uhm, well..." he murmured, seemingly a bit perplexed by the compliment, especially when they had just met and he hadn't even done anything for her yet to be a 'nice guy'. He rushed some of his hair back and hesitated for a moment, trying to go through all of the company procedures in his head regarding this. If she was some solicitor, then there weren't exactly many people she could sell to right now. She couldn't be that, right?

"Just don't make a big fuss about it, okay?" He offered to her as he brought up a screen on his desk, narrowing it down around the main office. "Which floor are you on? I'll have the elevator take you right there."

With that, Jane could see one of the lobby elevators descending down.

"Yeah, of course, no problem," the man said as he did the last bits to direct the elevator where she needed to go once she got on. At the very least, he wouldn't have this employee roaming the halls of the building all night. There had been stories about letting the wrong person in and something about some people who managed to start living in these megacorporate buildings in the staircases because nobody takes the staircase nowadays. A bit of an urban legend.

The elevator would descend down and take Jane to the floor she wanted to be at, the one where Perez was situated at. Like most execs, they typically gave themselves the biggest and best office in the building to aid them with their hard work. Perez was no exception as Jane was greeted by yet another reception desk at Perez's floor. There was a small garden found here, complete with a water fountain of a bronze greek warrior with a sword pointed at the elevator and a jug of endless water spilling to the pool below. There were sounds of birds chirping in the background, likely just a speaker track. The ground was made of cobblestone with ramping walkways that seemed to lead to different parts of the office in what seemed to be somewhat of an open concept floor.



There was a lone woman as the receptionist here, looking a bit surprised to see someone here late today, especially all that had happened.

Jane smiles and waves, walking up to the receptionist.
"Hey, how's it going?"

The lobby seemingly had a habit of passing on the problems to the upper floors as retaliation for not inviting them to the company Christmas party. There was a man who tried to sell wacky-inflatable arm men and wouldn't leave until security had to drag him out.

The garden and fountain were rather pretentious for a corporate office, perhaps even more so that there were classical signposts on the paths that seemed to be guiding people to different parts of the floor which included "Richardo Perez", "Stephanie Irwin", and "Rachael Park".

She took a glance behind her and Jane could see that elevated above the network of cubicles, hedge shrubs, and plants there was an office that overlooked the majority of the floor. It looked more like a viewing platform than an office, surrounded by black glass.

The silver-haired receptionist would give her a faint smile in return at first before it faded with the question. She didn't need to check her PAD or her desk to answer Jane. "No, I'm afraid...she gave herself the day off after what happened to Perez."

Jane sighs, playing up her tiredness before moving to head off
