Curious Cat [Day 7, LA]

[Nadia Avaline]

Light from the train cascading around her as the door openerd nearby, Nadia was focused on the woman. Stood to face her there was an almost inhuman stillness in the way she stood.

"You informed me that you had received a call from work. You do not have any cybernetic enhancements which would allow you to screen this without me having seen. There did not appear to be a buzzer, or a sound notification," she rattles off as if she were reading off a prompt.

"I am quite certain you have lied to me, but I do not understand why.

Sadie

The other woman wasn't prepared for the sudden interrogation and this easily unnerved her, especially with the rather inhuman tone that Nadia was reading out the judgement. She easily hesitated to search for some sort of answer or buy some time. The train doors were easily in reach of Nadia should she choose to leave.

"I was just trying to call a friend." She hesitated, thinking twice about lying. Quickly going back on her story, she admitted that it wasn't a friend but, "Someone. I just wanted someone to meet me later."

"But why lie?" she asks, the persistence matches by the focus her eyes held on her. It was off-putting, a grown woman with eeriely vacant expressions pressuring for an answer alike to that of a child. Nadia wasn't aware of the pressure this might have caused, of course. After all, the curiosity was truthfully child-like in enthusiasm and a slight relaxation of the barrier she was taught to maintain.

"...I-I just thought that you would be worried, that's all," she stammered out as a response. "You barely know me and I only kind of know you. Well, your line, anyway. I never met an Avaline before. I just didn't want to get you to panic or run away, that's all."

Sadie held up a hand defensively as she regarded some degree of caution. "...but you're not worried, right?"

"A little. This environment isn't my usual, and I am worried I've gone further than I intended," she says, glancing toward the train. Hesitating a moment she looks back toward Sadie instead. Eyes downcast for a moment in thought, "I have not met many that are familiar with the Avaline series. Perhaps they are more popular up here?" she thinks, turning her head slightly to the side as she did.

Shaking her head, recalling the train, "But I should be sure not to miss this train if it will be bringing me home. I would not want Miss Mills to feel my presence is lacking."

"Uhm...not really," she murmured, "I just saw you in an article once. Not a lot of Avaline around here. People get a bit antsy when it comes to clones."

"Hey, wait!" She said as she reached over to snag Nadia on the wrist, almost possessively at this point. While she was trying to dance around her intent, it seemed like she was pushing to be more assertive now. "You can't get on that train...it's not going to get you where you need to go!"

Easy enough to grab, she wasn't a woman who seemed keen on sudden movements herself. Predictable was a way of being and that extended to the way she often moved, part of all that training. However, accustomed to being grabbed was not part of her training and thus she stumbles a bit when it happens. Only barely catching herself on the outside of the train.

As she did, she'd stop and look to Sadie with one furrowed brow and eyes seeking.

"You.. are acting strange," she says, taking a moment to right herself. Some part of her felt odd saying that, against her usual protocol, but Elizabeth had her effect on Nadia as well.

Sadie would hold on to Nadia, perhaps not so much in a tight grip but certainly, in a way dissuade to from moving toward the train. She was perhaps a touch surprised by the lack of resistance on Nadia's part, although she still got admonish for her behaviour. It seemed that Sadie wasn't so keen to give her a proper reason, although when the train doors began to close was when her old begin slack and eventually release her grip on Nadia.

She would let out a small sigh once the train departed from the station, glad that moment was over, for now at least. "...that was the wrong train, that's all."

It was obviously another lie there or a hidden motive.

"Next Train to...sub-level 4..." The speaker overhead would announce.

As her hand was once more her own, Nadia corrected herself to her original more reserved stance. Hands in front, crossed together, down by her waist. As she waited there she regarded the woman without another word for a few seconds before her silver iris would brighten with an inhuman glow.

With the speed of thought, Nadia entered her contacts and sent off a message to Leo Knight:

"Why would a person be nervous if another person was to call a friend? This woman seems keen on lying frequently, but I am uncertain as to why?"

And then her eyes would dull once more, mere seconds later likely without context unless Sadie was familiar with the tech.

"I do not believe that was the wrong train," she admitted.

Sadie did notice the glow but didn't exactly know what happened or who she called. The situation was easily tenser to her than Nadia and perhaps that was a bit unnerving on its own. She swallowed back and shook her head. "It wouldn't have taken you directly to where you needed to go. Maybe we should wait for a train that takes you to the resort. No need to get lost again, right?"

If Nadia noticed the walls, as graffiti-covered as they were, there wasn't a train here that would lead directly to the resort or the surface level for that matter. It might have been covered or an older sign but it looked pretty doubtful.

The next train came zooming down on the other side of the platform, this one clearly looking like an older car with its share of markings and damage on it. The doors would open with some resistance, giving an audible creak. There were many people that emerged from it but most notably, there was someone dressed in a vacuum suit with a helmet on. It looked like the sort one would wear for a drive or a short time on the surface.

Sadie would gesture to the person. "There's my friend, let's go meet them."

Nadia watches for a moment, looking to this new arrival and then back to Sadie. A furrow of one brow indicating the churning of thought. One hand coming up to rest on her PAD under her sleeve she brushes the spot thoughtfully before nodding, "Okay."

Looking to Sadie, Nadia would allow her to lead.

Sadie found the agreement from Nadia a bit awkward, especially when it seemed like she was ready to leave earlier. There were also those bits of assertion she felt earlier. However, that wasn't now anymore and she gave a shake of her head to make those thought irrelevant as she strolled up to the other person. It didn't take long for the train to chime and close its doors, leaving the station soon after. The platform wasn't exactly a great place to be, even to loiter, and it didn't take long for the passengers to vacate the platform.

The person, who admittedly seemed to have a slight feminine figure but can't be known for sure in the vacuum-proof layers they were wearing. While it was normal to see Loonie have an outfit such as this one for travelling, it seemed this person wore it specifically to obscure their identity. That perhaps became clear when they spoke with a voice changer that had a slight glitching and distrotion effect. "I sEe tHaT YoU'Ve fOuNd sOmEtHiNg..."

Sadie would nod nervously at the person. "Yes, boss. It's an Avaline line, those are pretty rare and expensive. She was just wandering around here and we've been talking for a bit..."

The person turned to look at Nadia and placed a hand on their belt, which admittedly had a few tools and namely a synap pistol among them. They would refer to her by her series than her name. "vErY GoOd fInD, sAdIe. ThIS ShOuLd bE MoRe tHaN GoOd fOr tHe nExT MeEtInG. oKaY, aVaLiNe, YoU'Re gOiNg tO CoMe wItH Me nOw."

"I do not see a reason to do that," she states, the glancing narrowing in on the key parts. As she said so, there was a place where Nadia had stopped but perhaps Sadie would have stepped a couple more toward the masked figure. From that position Nadia took another step back given the strange arrivals demeanor.

It did almost seem too easy at first, thinking that they had Nadia's full cooperation. They both looked at Nadia as she stepped away from them before looking at each other. The masked one would gesture Sadie and Sadie would get the hint, moving around Nadia to perhaps make her way behind her. There were two sides to the platform, the side that they came from at the stairs below and another set of stairs at the other end.

There was an audible sigh from the person and they placed their other hand out, almost as if she was offering to take her hand and guide her to where she needed to go. The masked person tried to reason with Nadia with softer words, albeit distorted by the voice changer. "nO, yOu pRoBaBlY DoN'T...BuT I'D HiGhLy sUgGeSt tHaT YoU CoMe wItH Us. I DoN'T WaNt tO HuRt yOu aNd i'm sUrE YoUr oWnEr wOuLd rAtHeR YoU NoT GeT DaMaGeD In aNy wAy. PlEaSe, CoMe wItH Me, aVaLiNe."

[OOC: Nadia will have to roll Cool (Presence) to start initiative if she's planning to make her escape here, starting initiative.]

Nadia's response wasn't vocal, as things were starting to turn toward the unfortunate her eyes lost their natural appearance- as much as the silver color would allow- as that silver color began to glow with a technological quality. Another step further backward she was just starting to pivot. Overlay active she began to scan around for whatever she might be able to manipulate in the area.

A quick scan around the area would give Nadia some indication of her surroundings when it came to the Network, at least. There was Network connection, although it was a bit faint and might be slow in places. In public channels, there was the schedule to the trains and the next train on the station was one destined for the Docklands. It was coming soon but perhaps not soon enough. The emergency helpline seemed to be non-existent here, either by design or some tampering. The cameras here looked like they were already covered up with years of graffiti and the district not doing much about it. They were not monitoring this platform.

Despite Sadie's preparation to circle around Nadia, it seemed that she wasn't very quick here.

It seemed that Said was rather over-eager to fix her mistake and launched herself to tackle down Nadia but came up clumsily short in the attempt.

As the woman fumbled, it was almost certainly from the slightly unexpected movements from Nadia. Not quite quickly departing like one might suspect she moved different than most people as she almost fumbled her own foot placement trying to turn around. Of course, Nadia manages to catch herself before hitting the floor while Sadie's arms just miss her from behind without Nadia being all too much the wiser. Taking off she'd start running back the way they'd originally come. Making some distance while scanning about for any other security features she might be able to overtake, hoping mostly that she'll pass some sort of security door.

With both sides of the platform taken up by the tracks, it wasn't much of a security station or door until she could place herself elsewhere. There was a spot for a stand but it seemed never found a business and merely just a foundation for a booth jutting out of the ground awkwardly.

The exit was currently at the long distance.

The masked one would reach for their synap pistol and draw it on Nadia. "StOP!"

Nadia takes 6 stun damage as an electric bolt fired from the pistol and struck her, emitting a rather stunning shock! 1 Threat to lose on Strain.

The masked one groaned as it wasn't as effective short as they would like and successfully tried for another consecutive shot at Nadia, sending another electrical charge at the clone in an attempt to stop her in her place. It seemed she was using her weapon like a hammer than a precision tool, just merely aiming to put the clone done as immediately as possible.

Running away full sprint while under fire might be something a soldier or mercenary was used to, perhaps even Leo. Nadia, however, did not fall into the category of any of these things. Though her body was used to bracing from the strain of interacting with the net the stunning shock of a synap pistol was something far more. With the brief seizing shock from the first hit she tumbles she's knocked off her original course straight down the hall and careens into the foundation for the booth smashing her hip painfully. Adrenaline surging she picked up after that initial shock, held herself against the spot for a moment, but another one hitting her in the other side gave her pause for the briefest of moments before she'd take off again as quickly as she could.

Sadie kept didn't have a gun like her companion and just took to running after Nadia.

"Hey, wait! Don't run!" she could call out to her like Nadia was the one in the wrong here.

The masked person huffed in frustration and motioned Sadie to do something while they were doing all of the work. This needed to be handled as soon as possible. "gEt hEr!"

The synap electric bolt fire from their pistol and struck Nadia square in the back. Nadia takes 7 stun damage and knocks her out.

Both figures quickly converge on her and drag her with them before anyone else could get eyes on them. Just two humans and their clone, now.
