Elizabeth Mills

There was a listless look of consideration from Elizabeth as her mirth faded slightly, perhaps some displeasure when she found herself before a roadblock to what she wanted or required so nicely in this case.

"You will," she affirmed with a faint smile finding itself on her lips. "Hardly asking for making decisions, my dear. Well, because you can't. However, if you're there enough to just watch and report, it's good enough for me. Sure, there will be some execs that will find it a bit insulting that I've sent you in my place. With the committee, all of the departments, and all of the other ongoing projects at Weyland Consortium, everyone understands I'm easily the busiest woman in the city."

She tilted her head slightly looking at her as if to give her another consideration. "You can do that, right? I don't need to send you back to Jinteki to get an upgrade, do I?"
"I can do that," she stumbles over her words quick. Eyes a little wider from the immediacy. Eyes met for a second before the overwhelming compulsion to cast them down takes to her. "I just didn't want to oversell what I'm capable of. Something like that I can do, of course. I just didn't want to disappoint," she says, the words sheepish as the explanation rolls out.

"I.. also worry that I wouldn't be able to do what's most required of me if I'm away. But you know best, of course," she says, looking back up tunder her brow and offers a sheepish smile.

"Of course," Elizabeth said simply when Nadia explained herself, there almost looked like there was a tinge of doubt that set in her eyes for a moment.

"I'm sure you'll be able to do what I ask as my eyes and ears, nothing more," she said as she gave her that familiar pat on the shoulder, pleased that her acquisition didn't exactly combust or break down when going slightly above her expectations. Was Elizabeth perhaps putting too much on a Clone's shoulders? She wasn't entirely sure, they did look so much like real people.

"Thank you," she would say simply. By her tone and expectant gaze, Nadia would be familiar that there was an unspoken, 'you can go now'.

"Of course," she says, giving the nod that conveyed all it needed to before stepping back and then away. Dutiful as she was, of course, she didn't go too far so that she'd further be on hand if and when she was needed. Alike almost any other decoration in this place she found a good spot to be out of the way but visible.

Well, if there was one thing Lenore was acclimated to, it was smoke. She cleared her throat and dug her hands into her uniform pockets. "We all answer to somebody. But let's see... does the mayor keep technicians under her employ then? Somebody needs to ensure units are running under peek efficiency and therefore not causing any issues." She blew a loose strand of hair out of her face. "I'd say corps always have their say in politics so... any separation is just for appearances."

She let out a wistful sigh. "But it seems the government is more concerned about itself than having a human who'd understand human desires, human wants, that sort of thing. That's why I insist on you taking that drink. You might enjoy it... or is drinking not in your protocols?"
"I believe I understand why you'd be concerned, miss Gauvreau, but NAG models come equipped with relevant data and processes to deal with human desires and wants."

Emotions? Are those emotions?

"In fact, NAG series programming ensures a lower likelihood of problems due to outbursts than usual for organics. Although I believe Jinteki must have developed something similar for their creations?" She asks.

"But on your other points - yes, the government has technicians of their own, although Haas-Bioroid consultants are used when necessary. I trust the same must be true of your company, although you'll understand I know less about that. And it is true that corps have a say in politics - but part of our directives is making sure that is limited to the rightful proceedings. I'm certain you understand the importance of that, right?"

There was a momentary pause in the Daphne as she figured out what to do next. Ultimately, she wasn't going to fight Lenore over the cigars if that's what she was trying to procure them. Service trumped loss prevention at the very least. "You are free to take as many cigars as you wish, miss. However, we ask that you do not take the humidor as that is property of the Barre Civic Centre and its catering contractors."

Jeeves 4N9P1Q

However, it seemed only a matter of time that Lenore would be joined by another service bioroid, this one serving her sidecar cocktail on a tray. The Jeeves model spoke with a faux-British accent as she presented her drink. "Excuse me madam, one sidecar, as you've requested."
Lenore kept one hand on the humidor, tilting her head as she listened to Daphne explain the situation. The temptation remained to just snatch the whole thing away anyways but she seemed amenable to compromise.
Charm wrote:She raises a good point and she'll let us have all of the cigars.
Mechanics wrote:It, not she. Don't be like those fools.
"Fine," she said, opening up the humidor and stuffing the rest of the cigars into her pockets. Regardless of onlookers, she'd gain her prize. It wasn't like judgmental eyes ever kept her from doing her much more grim job duties.

And when the drink arrived, she held up one finger. "Just wait there. I have something to settle first."

"Relevant data and processes," she echoed, placing her hands over the stuffed pockets. "I'm afraid some things can't be defined through sheer programming."

Talk of outbursts only brought a smile to her lips. While she could explain her opinion on it directly, she instead approached it based on another matter. "Back at school... you know what a school is, surely... I had a good friend by the name of Deborah. She had this puppy, you see. We all loved that puppy, thought the world of that puppy, and he was loyal as they could be."

She finally took the sidecar, giving Jeeves a wink. "Thing is, that loyalty went a bit too far. Another kid spooked Deborah and her dog and he gave him a nasty bite. Just one little mistake and do you know what they did to him?" As part of her dramatic pause, she downed the entire cocktail in one go. "Sorry about that. At first I wanted you to experience alcohol but then I realized that I wanted it more. Ah, but where was I? Right."

After putting down the cocktail glass, she gave a wide shrug, one of those grandiose ones. "Despite what everyone believed, poor dog got put down. Sometimes, those things just happen. Think on that for me, okay?"

Daphne would only offer a small smile as Lenore opened up the humidor and helped herself to the rest of the cigars, doing nothing else to stop her from taking the rest. "Please enjoy, miss. If you require nothing else, I will take my leave and get more cigars for the other guests. Have yourself a good evening."

"Of course, madam," the Jeeves would say with a nod, happily taking the cocktail glass back after she was done with it.

The silvery eyes seemed to flicker as a low whirring could be heard again, for a fraction of a second, then the glowing eyes focus on Lenore again.

"Ah... I think I understand what you mean with the dog. My setup does not include deep knowledge of animals, but I believe that may be something called 'resource guarding'. If so, it might have been an error in socialisation. But as I said, that is not an area of focus for Angelina models", she adds with a shrug.

Some more whirring and what looks like a grin. "I will think on that, though, miss Gauvreau, as you said."

(Is that thinking, the doubt resonated on her sensors as the word appear before her eyes)

She looked at the woman, then at the glass. The internal display showed the word 'Scorn' again, followed by P(Scorn) = 86%.

"Human psychology and social structure is something my programming deals with better and... I believe failures in socialization may lead to even worse problems in humans."

A look down at the woman's hands as she took all of the cigars from humidor.

"Right?"

"It's only natural for organisms to compete over resources. Sadly, I don't think the poor pup understood that he'd be cared for all his life as long as he didn't break the cardinal rule of doing humans no harm."

Lenore only faltered a bit visibly, a slight quiver in her lip. In order to bonce back, she patted the cigars and cracked another grin. "I suppose so. But the great thing about humans is that we're constantly in change. With a dog, well, there's a reason why people say, 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks.' And when one proves to be bad... it's just another unfortunate loss."

With that, she blatantly ignored Daphne's departure and looked to Jeeves. "Take me to the bar. I want to pick out the liquor myself this time."

"Oh, most certainly, madam," the bioroid would say with a grand gesture of his hand, maintaining the British butler act. "Please, right this way! I think you'll be more impressed by our offerings. Our barroids are well-versed in all manner of drinking, even access to some recipes that have been just published by award-winning mixologists!"
