The woman frowned faintly at the mention of accounts, wondering if Jane meant the office work at large. While it was fine and great that an executive could take a day off whenever they wanted, it's not like the work exactly stopped when they left.

"Excuse me, is there anything I can help you wish...Miss?" she said curiously as she followed after her.

"Dawkins. I started here a couple weeks ago. Don't tell me you've forgotten my name already?"
Jane looks slightly hurt.

The woman looked rather sympathetic to 'Dawkins", maybe even drawing from an earlier memory when someone had forgotten her name once. Admittedly, it was more annoying to be known as "Janette" than "Justine". That seemed to have taken the forefront of her mind above whether or not she actually remember the other woman.

"Sorry about that...It must have been a pretty long day. I've been answering all the calls to the executives and trying to deflect them elsewhere. How about I help you out then?" she offered Jane.

"Oh that's really sweet of you, but I think I'm good for now. If something comes up I'll give you a holler though."
Jane waves and then briskly walks deep into the office until she was out of line of sight before turning to sneak towards Perez's office.

"Oh, all right then," she said with a few nods, a bit deflated but perhaps more glad that she didn't take forgetting her name the wrong way. "I'll be here if you need me to help with anything."

The walk toward Perez's office was an easy one, given its obvious position near the middle of the floor. It might have taken a few twists and turns to get to where she needed to go as the office looked like it was built in the middle of a hedge maze. It was probably some sort of spiritual guru's idea of a high-concept corporate office where the cubicles were more in one with nature than its natural urban surroundings. However, a better analogy comes to mind that the maze only served to host the Queen of Hearts and her troops, with Jane potentially playing the role of Alice. Not any desk jockey would be working here, naturally, it was only reserved for the most promoted and most brown-nosing of corporate drones.

Jane would find her way to the double doors of his office, made of a wooden door veneer. It seemed security might have taken the night off too, considering the boss wasn't in. However, the door didn't budget on contact.

"This is possibly the most twisted example of 'open plan' I've ever seen. You'd thing a construction conglomerate would have better taste."
With a sigh Jane starts running her fingers along the door looking for what type of security system had locked it, and whether it was crackable.

From what Jane could see from the security system, it was likely activated by biometrics or admission by security. There was also the likely possibility that cleaning staff might have access in there too. It was admittedly his public office and after a few scandals, executives have learned to at least not keep all of their skeletons in one place. Security wasn't tight, it seemed the priority was to secure Perez over his office. However, the minimum was that the door remained locked to those who didn't have access. The lock was mechanical if automated. At the moment, the security desk was dormant but likely required someone to login in to have full access.

"Hmm. If it can't be picked with a hairpin, it can't be picked."
Jane reaches up and pulls two pins out of her hair before carefully sliding them into the mechanism and working the lock until there's a satisfying 'click'.

"Bingo."

The classical aesthetics of the executive floor really had come to bite them in the behind when it came to security. Perhaps they should go with metal sliding doors next time, like a modern office. The lock would indeed click open and swinging the door open would reveal the interior of a rather vast office with a good view of the offices below through one-sided glass. It was easily someone who had a large luxury of space without an idea what to do with it. There was a large desk at the end of the room with a few shelves behind it. Following the same motif as the lobby, there were a few statues on the side, namely those of ancient warriors such as Roman legionnaires and conquistadors. That was probably in line with some Weyland Consortium mantra to conquer or vanquish. It seemed that the shelves were empty in some spots, a few sports relics were taken from their display pieces. Perhaps the packing effort had begun...or the looting of heirlooms.

"No honour among these thieves."
Jane cracks her knuckles
"Okay, let's start digging. Records, communications. Anything out of the ordinary."

Jane perhaps lucked out when it came to accessing the information on Perez. It seemed that the recent death might have unlocked his terminal so that investigators but more likely lawyers and inheritance-seeking family members could have free access to everything he left behind. Richardo Perez wasn't exactly a member of the committee but much like a few Weyland Consortium executives, were tied by either some way of sponsorship or otherwise support.

Supposedly, he was a hard worker and would often stay late hours at the office to work alongside his employees. This was, of course, a big fat lie and often the excuse that he would use to spend time with his mistress...who seems to be one of the executive secretaries he keeps on staff by the name of Rachael Park, who must be reaping major benefits of getting a bigger office. According to his schedule, he had been doing just that, spending the night at a condo in Rutherford he maintained just for the relationship. When it came to business, it seemed that much of his ongoing major projects include one relating to a 'Los Arboleda' Network architecture and the update of the defence grid on Heinlein, tieing to a recently earned contact with the Space Expeditionary Corps.

"Ah...ha...An attempt on his life for business...or pleasure? I suppose I should be grateful he only had the one mistress."
Jane makes a note of all this before carefully exiting the office to leave as few traces as possible.

An addendum to the found information, it seems that the 'Los Arboleda' project had been transferred to Elizabeth Mills at her request. However, the defense contract to the SXC was easily a far messier affair. It was easily the most lucrative project but had a larger share of headaches. Previously, the contract went to Haas-Bioroid and there has been a lot of sandbagging when it came to releasing any information on the previous architecture and much of it was difficult to work with. Perez might have ended up hanging himself on that one if he didn't suffer his untimely car accident, to begin with. Needless to say, many hungry executives looking to prove themselves jumped at the chance to seize that responsibility, regardless of the mess.

Jane would easily make her escape from the office. She might have easily been the 20th person here today. In her experience, sudden executive deaths (as well as arrests and firings) tend to leave a massive vacuum. She would be merely like a mouse scurrying past while the vultures viciously picked at the carcass.
