[Day 7 - Early Evening] Overtime

The Docklands were initially destined to become a developed settlement much like Lunacent. Now, it is mostly industrial complexes and a haven for questionable characters.

Andrew Waller

Waller immediately let out a dismissive scoff at the bit about telling her to frack off, acting like a man that had nothing to hide. He would bob his head at the mention of the Olympus job, at least it looked like he was nodding based on his body language. It was hard to tell with the suit and the distance. "Hah-yep. Yeah. That was me. I can't prove it even if I wanted to, especially when there isn't much left of those ration packs and who knows what became of the ship...but yeah, that was me. 'Worst thing they did was hold on to those packs and tell us there was a famine on Earth. Piss in our face and call it water. If you don't believe that was me then at least think of it as an act of God, righting things."

"Ha! Knew it. That was a big deal. God or man, ration packs right things when people don't have anything to go on."
Jane's posture eases to a little more friendly
"Mind if I catch a ride into town with the two of you?"

"A big deal, yeah, but unfortunately it's not the first or the twentieth time something like that had to be done just to put food in the belly of some Loonies. Damn Earthers just assume we can grow crops on the ground just like the rest of them." He gave a shake of his head at this contempt for those blue planet sorts.

"You're more than welcome to get a lift from us but we're not going back to town, not anytime soon, just the shop. If it helps, we can just drop you at the station." He thumbed at the vague direction of the Docklands mag-train station.

"Works for me, it's appreciated Mr Waller."
With a grin Jane bounds aboard.

"I'm going as soon as you get down from there, then. Mila, get back to work. I want that salvage waiting for me when I come back with the truck."

Image
Mila

It seemed breaktime was over now and Mila restarted to saw, jamming it unceremoniously against the heavy metal of the tower. "Yeah, you got it, Mister Waller."

"It was a pleasure Mila, let me by you a round next time I see you back in town, eh?"
Jane backflips gracefully off the tower and lands on the buggy.

Mila

With her boss busting her hump in person, Mila could only give a momentary thumbs up before returning to holding the power saw steady. This needed to be done one hour ago.

"Get set and we'll go." Andrew would return to the driver's seat of the buggy-truck, there would be a passenger-side seat open for Jane was she wanted to take it but she was more than welcome to ride the back if she wanted. Actually, there was something that was being carried back here, wasn't there?

Jane definitely enjoys the brief throwback to a childhood where many any evening was spent riding home in the back of a buggy.

"This takes me back, I'd say I learnt how to drive from the back of a buggy, but given how I corner...one of my uncles would ever claim responsibility for the teaching."

Her eyes flash for a moment as she spots something

Andrew would drive forward, the ride was a bit bumpy but the path was travelled enough it was mostly flattened to a point. "I'd say that driving a buggy is actually just half of it, it's mostly managing the terrain and making the best with the road in front of you. They're saying they're going to be building more roads here, which is rather silly since we've managed just fine without them."

Looking at the contents of the buggy she was standing or sitting on, looking at the bits that jutting up from the tarp that held it down with a dusting of lunar dust...The parts looked like they were a structure or support from somewhere, maybe from a tower like the one Mila was working on and with the same sawed-off markings. However, judging by the quality of the metal, it was new and of high quality. Wasn't there a massive construction accident earlier in the day?

[OOC: The Triumph qualifies for further information.]

Considering that Jane actually transported some of those goods destined for the construction on Heinlein a month ago, she had some idea of the materials and equipment involved. The loot that Andrew kept in the back of his buggy-truck was definitely some parts from a crane tower of a Weyland Consortium contractor configuration. It wasn't significant in the metal content but likely key parts for the crane to maintain operation and structural integrity. There were tools in the back too, something similar to the massive power saw that Jane saw Mila using earlier, as well as a few other tools meant for stripping and dismantling. Admittedly, these were tools of the trade for Andrew.

Andrew continued driving and the train station just outside the Docklands was visible in the distance. There wasn't a train that really stopped inside the Docklands proper, just outside. "Your stops is coming up!"

Jane takes a few quick photos of the evidence, just in case.

"Thank you kindly Mr Waller. Never thought I'd get to say I rode with the likes of you. Same offer as Mira, if you see me in town I'll owe you a drink."

"Only if you can spare it, not because you owe me," he said simply on the matter before pulling up to the station. Unlike most train stations on Heinlein, this was mostly outdoors and the unprepared passengers are long booted off the train before it makes this stop. There were a few people standing outside waiting for the train to arrive.

"This is where you get off." He said before turning around to see how Jane was doing in the back. "I look after my people, if you're looking for work, you come to me first."

She shoots a thumbs up

"So noted. Reckon we'll run into eachother one way or the other before all this is done."
One graceful buggy dismount later
"Thanks again Mr Waller."

"That's right," was all he said on the matter, there might have been a nod given with a grunt before he turned around to fiddle with some gauges of his ride. With that side trip over, it was time to get back to work. He didn't spare much of a glance back as he drove off with his ill-gotten loot.
