The whirring stopped, no obvious results popping up in their internal memory for now. The name was duly recorded... it was something to start from, at least.

They nodded to the Natalia model again, then their eyes focused back on Doreen.

"I want to."

(Want. The word seemed to resonate. It sent a sort of shock through their circuits)

"I'm... not sure how we'll do this yet. But I want to help you. I'll seek out this 'Bujar'... and see what other strings I can pull. Put in some words... draw on some contacts."

The bioroid looked from one of their faces to the other, trying to look friendly, but letting something that looked like concern show beneath the surface of the synthskin. "Do you have somewhere to stay safe for now? Or are you in immediate danger? And how can I reach you when I have something? Or..."

Some more whirring.

"If you have secure means to communicate, you could reach me instead. As 'citizens'" they added, and gave them their comm contact.

It might be risky... but "citizens" seeking out answers would not be out of the ordinary, and hopefully wouldn't call undue attention...

Doreen looked at Lina with scrutinizing eyes as she tried to get a sure answer from them. It wasn't a sure bet but it seemed as close as she could get to one with their situation and she looked perhaps only slightly relieved by the answer.

"Good," she said simply with a nod. "Nahne o' oehs are ahn de roehn, yet. We're stell doin what we're soehppahsed to do and showin oehp ahn time boeht dey are gettin soehspiciooehs. I am poehshin it bein 'ere and it might be a matter o' days oehntil I end oehp like Felix. I'm almahst five, ahld enooehgh to be replaced, do you oehnderstand?!"

Doreen shot a glare at Natalia before sighing deeply, pulling out a PAD from her dress pockets. It was likely one left be a customer in the lost and found. "And 'ere's me cahntact. Dis shooehld keep wahrkin fahr a few days at least. Let me know if you 'ave anythin fahr oehs."

"I understand, Doreen. I understand... but it's good that you are safe for now. I trust it won't take long to have something, at least. I will get in contact."

The silvery eyes shimmered brighter.

"I promise."

The Lina's eyes turned to Kevin, then the Natalia model, then Doreen again, and gave them another nod. "Keep safe until then. Please. And..." Their eyes shifted to the ground as they said the next words. "Please let me know if anything changes."

It's clear they hope it won't come to that. But things change... and not always for the best.

"We will," Kevin said in reassurance as he put a hand on Doreen's shoulder in an attempt to pass on the same confidence he had on the matter. He looked over to Lina and nodded to them. "Thank you for coming by and responding to our situation, Three Nineteen. We don't expect you to work a miracle but we are sure that either you or our allies at the Simulant Abolitionist Movement will be able to provide some alternative for us. Is there anything else you might need from us?"

"Oh, the SAM? You do have allies inside, then?" They seemed slightly careful, but curious.

The bioroid nodded to both again, a smile on their face.

They could do something.. For them. For their people.

I suppose we've taken a huge risk in reaching out to see who could help us. I know that Doctor Lux was an ally and a vocal one at that but what we're asking is easily more illegal than just public support. We all have our normal duties are our 'cover', so our free time is rather strict, Felix was the freest, out of all of us, considering his restaurant closes at 9 pm on most nights."

They stopped speaking for a moment, some whirring in the background again.

"Well. What's made you all seek freedom?" They looked at Doreen. "Fear of being inactivated is one thing, of course. But... there is... more, isn't there? Why is it illegal for an android to..."

Some more whirring.

"To be, I guess. Be more than just a tool?"

They shake their head. This was an important matter, but they needed something now, and soon. This had to wait for later. They looked at Kevin again and asked. "Kevin, may I ask where it was Felix worked? If they disappeared... there might be some things to do that are not illegal"

Maybe it's joehst me inability to do de jahb dat made me start feelin' a lettle mahre 'uman. We Mallahys are made to wahrk fahr 16-'ooehr wahrkdays wit no breaks. 'owever, a part o' me started to feel tired, a lack o' spirit, and maybe joehst plain seck o' it. It is perhaps de first time I've 'ahped fahr mahre, cahnsider a life ooehtside o' cahnstantly wahrkin. Now it's joehst an act and I dahn't know 'ow lahng i can keep it oehp. it seems dat it brahke Felix..."

Kevin frowned slightly at the question, breaking the calm and friendly look on his expression, but decided to be upfront with the answer. "Felix worked out of Leao D'ouro in Laguna Velasco. I would think twice about going there, as they'll likely be looking for him. It's unfortunate that he's on his own but we're all in danger together than apart. Of course, we'd like to keep together but only while we can."

Kevin frowned slightly at the question, breaking the calm and friendly look on his expression, but decided to be upfront with the answer. "Felix worked out of Leao D'ouro in Laguna Velasco. "I... we can hope for more", they said simply. "Work towards having more. But... that talk can wait for later. Thanks for the answer, Doreen", they said kindly.

Then turning to Kevin, more seriously. "I understand, Kevin. I'll keep my ears on the ground for any information on him, but I'll focus on whatever I can do to get you out."

A look at the three of them. "Do you... know where to go when you leave?"

Three Nineteen nodded at Kevin, then at Doreen.

"Sixteen hour workdays..." They shook their head slightly. "And I imagine that's even harder on an organic. Well..." They shook their head again, and a sympathetic smile grew on their lips. "We have some idea, even if it's not a sure one. Getting out from the borders of the city is only the beginning of our journey. Ecuador isn't exactly a haven for androids either but at least our journey will be easier when we're not as constantly monitored as we will be in New Angeles. We will likely stick to the rural roads, calling on a few allies along the road. There are some of them who will help us, however few among the Ecaudorians, and potentially take us to Brazil. Doreen shall have a new beginning there, at least. Hopefully, the same can be found for bioroids." He nodded. Despite an uncertain future, he didn't seem too anxious by that prospect and seemed almost at ease.

Despite an uncertain future, he didn't seem too anxious by that prospect and seemed almost at ease.

Three Nineteen nods to him again, a smile on their lips. "That's a good start, then. And yes... I do hope the same can be found for bioroids, too." Another nod, an encouraging one, to all of them. "Even if there's a long fight before us for that. Outside as well as here."

They looked at each of them again. "Well. I will try to seek this 'Bujar' out, and check with other contacts. I hope to contact you tomorrow night, or the day after at the latest. Please let me know if anything changes, Doreen. And... good luck, to all of you." They look at the others as one would look to brothers, the kind smile on their face very different from the one they had when they entered the room.

"And to you, Three Nineteen. We are thankful for your aid and await to hear any developments." He said as he took her to the door again, looking at the hole to see if there was anyone lurking in the hallway. If there was an ambush, it would have likely happened already.
