[Day 7 - Early Evening] Overtime

The Docklands were initially destined to become a developed settlement much like Lunacent. Now, it is mostly industrial complexes and a haven for questionable characters.

[Day 7 - Early Evening] Overtime

Post by Boogiepop » Fri Oct 01, 2021 1:30 am

In space, nobody could hear you work. While construction was going on one part of the Docklands, there were still large stretches of parts in the Lunar crater that was devoid of activity. Several buildings and settlements of abandoned buildings and shells of forgotten projects were still found there. Squatting was a bit difficult when there weren't things such as power, water, and oxygen readily accessible. Even if the paperwork wasn't needed, it was hard to lay claim to one of these structures without a lot of credits spent on the bare necessities. However, these buildings still had some value in them in other ways.

There seemingly was a lone woman working on what looked like an old relay tower of sorts, using her industrial saw to cut at the sturdy material and creating a lot of sparks with her efforts but little much in noise on the Lunar surface.

Another woman bounds across the surface, performing a couple flips and spins for the sheer fun of it before pushing off the top of the relay tower and alighting next to the worker.

Flipping her radio to location
"Azul d ameqran friend. Is this a scrapping expedition?"

She almost didn't even notice the other woman at first until she was standing right beside her. The woman would stop what she was doing and turn to give her an alerted blink at first, her gaze looking at her up and down. She reached to the body of her suit and turned a few knobs before she was on the same frequency. Her mood wasn't exactly friendly or conversational. "...What's it to you? What do you think I'm doing?"

The other woman look down on the ground for a moment, then at her saw and then considered her options. Who here were some ways away from help?

Despite the fact that the woman carried a tool with plenty of edges, she seems to lose her edginess with the reassurance from Jane. Her posture relaxed and she looked less likely to jam that tool right into Jane's body at the moment. She sighed and gave a shake of her head. "Damn right about that. Sorry, just wasn't sure about you, especially when you jumped on my flank and everything. I'm Mila."

"Someone does need to be careful around here and it's not going to be the Earthers that's for sure." She snorted dismissively on the matter. "Just leave them to make a mess of thing here and leave. Nothing new when it comes to them but now they're thinking they can change things around here. Really pisses me off just thinking about it!"

There was a moment where she paused, perhaps hearing another voice in her head or her commlink. "Huh, what's...No, yeah, I'm still here. I'll close to finishing up."

"Oh, sorry about that. That's my boss. He's been on my ass about getting this done soon and now he's on his way. You...looking kind of familiar, Jane." She said as she looked at the other woman up and down. At the same time, she might not really mean that and just used their obvious Loonie-ness as an excuse for kinship. "What are you doing around here, anyway?"

"...Martians, huh?" she said curiously on the matter before turning her attention on her power tool, checking the line and switches before she returned to power sawing parts of the relay tower. It seemed she was focusing on the parts where there was more metal than any of the technical parts. There were sparks and easily faded out quickly on the Lunar 'air'.

"They actually came down here? Closer than Earth but still a few months.."

It seemed Mila was just curious on the matter, as most people were when Martians were brought up. They were people from an entirely different planet and Luna was just as far away from there.

From their elevation, they could see a large size lunar buggy approaching their position after making a turn on the 'street'. It seemed the sort that would pass as a truck on Earth with a rear compartment for all matter of materials. There was a tarped to keep things from rolling or bouncing off due to the lower gravity.

"Ugh, there he is now." Mila would say through the comm as she worked harder on grinding down the metal against metal. "...So you're looking for work or something?"

"Honestly at this point I'd just settle for a few contacts. Need to reach out again and see what's changed."
She watches the buggy with interest, mentally evaluating the driving.

"Huh, okay then," she nodded in acceptance. "Well, Waller is pretty good with giving work if you're looking. You need to be good with tools too, of course."

The vehicle would eventually make its way to the base of the tower and stop there. The engine was kept on and the bright lights from its headlights were perhaps the brightest thing in the area, perhaps making the surrounding area look more like a graveyard of buildings in comparison. The driver's door open up and a man would step out with an imposing figure.

There was a momentary pause from Mila as she heard something and replied back. "...Yeah, this is Jane. She just dropped by."

She would turn attention to Jane. "Sorry, get on the channel. It should be open to you now if you want to talk."
